Position

When selected you will be offered a materials scientist position in which you will act as lead scientist in various commercial and (EU/national funded) research projects. You provide consultancy services related to materials science problems to both internal and external customers. You will build professional networks in your field and make NRG visible by attending project meetings and technical conferences. You will contribute to project acquisition activities, writing proposals, and preparation of tenders for research and commercial projects.

Profile

You have a master’s degree or PhD in Materials Science (or a related discipline, e.g. physics, mechanical engineering or chemical engineering). Knowledge and practical experience at least two of the following areas for characterization of nuclear materials is essential:

  • Mechanical / fracture testing;
  • Corrosion testing;
  • Optical / electron microscopy;
  • Physical/chemical characterization (e.g. testing of electrical and thermal properties).

Furthermore you are:

  • Capable of analysing large data sets and correlating microstructural information to materials properties;
  • You have the ability to develop new experimental setups for materials testing;
  • You have good communication, technical reporting and presentation skills;
  • You are a team player with an ability to work independently, pro-active, entrepreneurial and ready to accept challenges and responsibilities;
  • Focused on quality and safety;
  • A team player with good ownership;
  • Inquisitive and results-oriented;
  • Structured and organized;
  • Ambitious.

Team

You will be working within our department Fuels & Materials Irradiations. The current developments in advanced nuclear reactors result in growth of our business in the R&D projects. Therefore we need a new colleague to join our team.
