NRG Consultancy and Services, based in the Netherlands, unites more than 60 years of nuclear engineering, research and operational research reactor experience into one unique purpose: the safe, reliable and efficient utilization of nuclear technology. We are a mid-size division, with 150 highly qualified engineers and consultants and we deliver services and solutions in the area of nuclear safety, asset integrity, decommissioning, waste management as well as radiation protection.

NRG-C&S is independent from other service providers, utilities, or regulatory bodies. In the Netherlands, we have unique facilities in our Petten site (hot cells, radiochemical laboratories, decontamination and waste treatment facility) and in our Arnhem site (mock up hall for inspections).

The Safety & Licensing team is closely involved in design and licensing of existing and new nuclear installations in the Netherlands. One of our focus points is newbuild: the newbuild of the Pallas reactor in Petten, plans for two new nuclear power plants (NPPs) in Borssele and interest in small modular reactors in various provinces. NUCLEAR SAFETY CONSULTANT

Position

As Nuclear Consultant you will support in demonstrating the safety of primarily new build reactors but also on existing facilities. You will take part in divers projects related to the development, construction, modification or safe operation of nuclear systems. As part of a multidisciplinary team you interpret technical information, do site visits, discuss with designers / operators and colleagues to get a clear view on all safety and compliance aspects. You will give advice on safety improvements, compliance with regulations and/or support in license applications.

You have a critical, questioning attitude and are inquisitive, open minded and a good communicator, both orally and in writing. On your job you will be actively coached and will get ample opportunity to further develop your professional and personal skills.

Profile

  • Master or doctor degree in nuclear, mechanical or aeronautical engineering;
  • Some years of experience in nuclear, preferably newbuild experience;
  • Strong in oral and written communication in the English language (knowledge of Dutch is an advantage but not required);
  • Focused on quality;
  • Self-motivated;
